Regular Members are registered Democrats; Affiliate Members need not be.
Every two years, the Club selects representatives to the CA Democratic Party’s Pre-Endorsement Conference, where representatives vote according to the vote of Club Members in Good Standing. Through this process candidates for state and federal office are officially endorsed by the CA Democratic Party.
The Club’s Associate Member votes at Central Committee meetings for Orange County endorsements, also according to the vote of Club Members in Good Standing. Party endorsements make a difference!

DEMAND NO ANONYMITY IN IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT
What? Federal bills SB2212 and HR4004. Under the proposed bills, Homeland Security agents from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be required to display a legible ID that includes the agency name or acronym. They'd also have to include information on their names or badge numbers.
Status? Recently introduced by Democratic U.S. Sens. Alex Padilla (D-CA), Cory Booker (D-NJ) and U.S. Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez (D-NY).
Why Should We Care? Masked, heavily armed immigration agents are snatching people off the streets without providing any proof of identification and taking them away in unmarked cars. They are currently not required to wear body cameras, can cover their faces, don't have to provide badge numbers or identify themselves, can arrive in unmarked cars and they don't need a warrant from a judge to detain someone.
Action: Call CD40 Representative Young Kim and tell her you are a constituent and insist that she support HR4004. Phone: 202-225-4111.

MASS BLACKOUT - A coalition of grassroots organizations is calling for a nationwide economic shutdown during the busy holiday shopping season, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to protest the Trump administration and economic inequality. The groups – Blackout the System, The People’s Sick Day, American Opposition, the Money Out of Politics Movement, and The Progressive Network – urged Americans to stop all spending and refuse to go to work during the "Mass Blackout," which runs from Nov. 25 to Dec. 2. Avoid travel and restaurants and cancel streaming and digital subscriptions, organizers said. "If you must spend: support small, local businesses only. Pay in cash." Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30 is exempted from the blackout.

Charitable Opportunities
The Board of Directors has the responsibility of selecting organizations/causes to which the Club contributes. The Club’s chosen service project since 2008 has been South County Outreach (SCO), a food bank and resource center for those in need. Club members contribute non-perishable food items at Club meetings. Food Drives are held outside Stater Bros. or at the home of organizers Sue and Richard Snyder (suesnyder0625@gmail.com). Members contribute recyclable cans and bottles at meetings; funds raised from recycling are donated to SCO.

One way we can continue to advocate for our issues and needs is to call Congresswoman Young Kim once a month or so, thank her when she does something we support, and respectfully let her know our concerns when she supports potentially harmful legislation. GOTV
Volunteer for big and little jobs. Deliver door hangers; we need 175 people. Be a Captain with an assigned walk team. Volunteer to drop-in for “Prep Week” in mid-April to work on the primary election. Be a leader for our adopted three precincts in Laguna Hills. Be a “wrap-up” volunteer after each election to clean up folders, manage shredding, and just make sure we have a good start for the following election.
