JOIN OUR CLUB!

Membership is open to all Laguna Woods Village and Orange County residents.
Regular Members are registered Democrats; Affiliate Members need not be.
Every two years, the Club selects representatives to the CA Democratic Party’s Pre-Endorsement Conference, where representatives vote according to the vote of Club Members in Good Standing. Through this process candidates for state and federal office are officially endorsed by the CA Democratic Party.
The Club’s Associate Member votes at Central Committee meetings for Orange County endorsements, also according to the vote of Club Members in Good Standing. Party endorsements make a difference!

Volunteer Opportunities

Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Committee — to establish a plan starting in October
Team Leads — to be point person for a group of volunteers in your area
Distributing door hangers — with our voting recommendations to Democrats and NPPs

Rallies

Rallies provide an opportunity for Club members to express their opinions on a selected issue or topic. The rallies are held near the Laguna Woods City Hall. For more information contact Janice Burstin at jburstin@comline.com.

Charitable Opportunities

The Board of Directors has the responsibility of selecting organizations/causes to which the Club contributes. The Club’s chosen service project since 2008 has been South County Outreach (SCO), a food bank and resource center for those in need. Club members contribute non-perishable food items at Club meetings. Food Drives are held outside Stater Bros. or at the home of organizers Sue and Richard Snyder (suesnyder0625@gmail.com). Members contribute recyclable cans and bottles at meetings; funds raised from recycling are donated to SCO.

Neighbor to Neighbor

Neighbor to Neighbor volunteers go door to door, speaking with registered Democrats who are not yet members of the Laguna Woods Democratic Club. We remind our neighbors about voting when elections begin and provide other useful voter information. We all benefit from bringing more Democrats into the Laguna Woods Democratic Club, which is a Political Action Committee. Contact Jeanne Lepowsky at (949) 636-9123, lepowsky@comline.com.

Mentoring

Leadership is required to complete a vast number of functions. These leaders, our Club’s board of directors, rely on the help of many volunteers. All the following programs are organized by an individual:

Fresh Ideas Initiative

Six months of ideas have been collected. Now it’s time put our “fresh ideas” into action and gear up for a victory in November. We’ve been gathering maps, and Mary Ribando is working on new outreach into Laguna Hills. Mary Ribando and Kate Van Camp are learning technology that promises to cut GOTV volunteer hours. Even though the “official” fresh ideas initiative is closing for the election, you are encouraged to freely email or text your ideas to Mary at marytribando@aol.com or (716) 984-9480‬.
