Laguna Woods Democratic Club (LWDC) serves as the meeting and gathering place for registered Democrats and friends of the Democratic Party in the community of Laguna Woods Village, a senior community of 18,000 residents, in Orange County, California.

Migration and Global Climate Change
The Laguna Woods Democratic Club welcomes Maria Lepowsky on April 15 at 7:00 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. Maria Lepowsky is Professor of Anthropology, Evjue-Bascom Professor of Gender and Women's Studies, and Faculty Affiliate at the Gaylord Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her BA, MA, PhD and MPH degrees from the U.C. Berkeley. The author of the book Fruit of the Motherland: Gender in an Egalitarian Society, Professor Lepowsky has conducted anthropological and archival research focused on Papua New Guinea and California. Her recent scholarly interests include environmental histories, colonial encounters and their cultural legacies in the present, and the cultural impacts of climate change along the Pacific Rim.
