Laguna Woods Democratic Club (LWDC) serves as the meeting and gathering place for registered Democrats and friends of the Democratic Party in the community of Laguna Woods Village, a senior community of 18,000 residents, in Orange County, California.

Join fellow members of the LWV Democratic Club on May 20th, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in Clubhouse 2 to meet Sadaf Rahmani, Public Affairs Director, as she shares how her heritage has shaped the work that she does at Planned Parenthood and the catastrophic implications of the 2022 SCOTUS decision. 5/1 — Nationwide May Day Protest! Join us from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., at our new location; on the corner of Paseo de Valencia and El Toro Road (near Starbucks). Let’s support Working People and Democracy! May Day celebrates the progress of working people and honors those who fought for it so let us fight against the MAGA movement as they roll back workers’ rights and strip America down for profit. 5/2 — Postcard Writing! From 10 a.m.to 12 (noon) Clubhouse 1, Dining Room 2. Huntington Beach is having a critical citywide special election on June 10. This effort is to reach out to Democratic voters that need an extra nudge to vote. The outcome of this election could protect the city’s library system from dangerous MAGA policies. 5/3 — We The People Have Had Enough Rally! Let us partner with our sister-club Canyon Dems from 10:00 a.m. to noon on the corners of Valencia and Alicia Pkwy. Ask Young Kim what she is doing while Trump tramples our democracy! Our support is important to get visibility in South Laguna Hills where voter engagement is low. 5/4 — Every Sunday! There is a large peaceful protest in Irvine at Harvard and Alton near Irvine City Hall from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The sponsor is Indivisible CD40, refer to Facebook (also 5/11, 5/18, 5/25).

5/7 — Every Wednesday Rally! Protest at the corner of La Paz and Marguerite from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., near the Mission Viejo office of Congresswoman Young Kim. Sponsored by SouthOC4Democracy (also on 5/14, 5/21, 5/28). Contact Janice Burstin at jburstin@comline.com.

5/17 — Rally to Celebrate Women! Protest from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the corner of Paseo de Valencia and El Toro Road (near Chase Bank). This theme coincides with our monthly meeting program addressing the need for women’s body autonomy and healthcare which is provided by Planned Parenthood.

5/20 — LWDC Monthly Meeting! Join us with Sadaf Rahmani in CH2 at 7:00 pm. The topic is “Threat to Freedom – Preparing to defend our bodies, rights & communities in the Trump Era.” Come at 6:30 p.m. for the letter and postcard writing on the issue of the week!
