Laguna Woods Democratic Club (LWDC) serves as the meeting and gathering place for registered Democrats and friends of the Democratic Party in the community of Laguna Woods Village, a senior community of 18,000 residents, in Orange County, California.

Meeting: July 15, 2025, 7:00 p.m., Clubhouse 2

Candid, outspoken, outrageously opinionated, and often very funny Jeff Pearlman is the featured speaker at the July 15, 2025 Democratic Club meeting at 7:00 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. The topic: “If a Sportswriter Can Impact Local Politics, You Damn Well Can, Too.” Pearlman describes his journalistic mission as covering the ludicrousness of local politics. His new Substack newsletter, The Truth OC, digs deep into Orange County politics, skewering what he refers to as “the crazy people” in many of Orange County's local governments. Pearlman is the New York Times best-selling author of 10 books, including Showtime which became the HBO series: Winning Time. His next book, scheduled for October ‘25, is Only God Can Judge Me: The Many Lives of Tupac Shakur. A former Sports Illustrated and ESPN writer, Jeff started The Truth OC to cover Orange County politics because, in his words, no one else is doing so. He lives in South Orange County.

7/4 – Laguna Woods Village Fourth of July Golf Cart Parade. 11:00 a.m. Democratic Club carts will be leaving from Clubhouse 1 and Clubhouse 5, and meeting at Clubhouse 2 at 11:45 a.m. for live music and celebration.
7/5 – Film ‘Illegal Crossings’ 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 2. Depicts a life-threatening journey across the U.S. and Mexico border. Discussion with Rebeca Gilad. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., no charge for Laguna Woods Village residents and guests.
7/6 , 7/13, 7/20, 7/27: Every Sunday Protest: in Irvine at Harvard and Alton near Irvine City Hall from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sponsored by Indivisible CD40. See them on Facebook.
