Laguna Woods Democratic Club (LWDC) serves as the meeting and gathering place for registered Democrats and friends of the Democratic Party in the community of Laguna Woods Village, a senior community of 18,000 residents, in Orange County, California.

The Orange County Board of Education & Its Impact on Our Schools
7:00 p.m. Clubhouse 2

Sherine Smith, former Superintendent of Schools, will address what the OC Board of Education does, why we should be concerned about politics, and other important issues at the February 17, 2026, meeting of the Laguna Woods Democratic Club, in Clubhouse 2 at 7:00 p.m. Smith will speak about the importance of the Board of Education and the June primary election, the values of the current BOE members, why we need to elect Democrats, and the difficulties Dems have in running in District 5. A Q&A session will follow her presentation.

Snacks will be served. Come early at 6:30 to socialize! If you can, please bring recyclable cans, bottles and empty egg cartons for South County Outreach.

You Can Do This
Your Vote is Your Voice. Protect It!

WHAT: The House passed the SAVE Act this week, imposing considerable documentary proof-of-citizenship requirements on voters. Read more from NBC and CBS.

WHY SHOULD WE CARE: The president is worried about losing the mid-term elections. He’s threatening to “nationalize elections.” The House of Representatives just passed the Save Act to tip the scales in their favor which many fear will substantially inhibit millions of voters from casting ballots. It’s just one of this Administration’s frantic attempts at rigging the election.

ACTION:
#1 Call our California Senators and make sure they vote NO on the SAVE Act.

Every Wednesday: Local Listeners Bootcamp – from the DNC Organizing Team (referenced by guest Speaker Deborah Skurnik). A seven-week virtual training series that prepares participants to become trusted, community-rooted organizers. The Local Listeners Bootcamp takes place on Zoom and starts on Wednesday, January 21, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, recurring on Wednesdays.
